Fed meeting is the main focus for this week – weekly outlook – 18th September

The FOMC meet this Wednesday taking the spotlight on a fundamental basis. They have already suggested that they will discuss the timing of the unwinding of the quantitative easing. This means that at some point they will start selling some of the huge quantities of Treasury and mortgage bonds they hold ($4.4 Trillion). There is no expectation of rates being increased at this meeting.

Other news which I have not covered in this video is PM May’s speech on Friday, where she will outline the current thoughts for Brexit. There are rumours that she is going to suggest that the UK pays significant amounts of money to have a soft transition.
